On Saturday, August 31st, the final performance of YOSHIKI’s “World’s Most Luxurious Dinner Show,” titled “EVENING / BREAKFAST with YOSHIKI 2024 in TOKYO JAPAN,” was held at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the event attracted significant attention even before the show, with the 300,000 yen “VIP Premium Package” tickets selling out instantly. With an emergency surgery scheduled for October, YOSHIKI endured severe neck pain and numbness in his hand, pushing through physical exhaustion to successfully complete all 13 performances (both Breakfast and Dinner Shows).
During the performances, YOSHIKI showcased X JAPAN’s iconic songs such as “Say Anything” and “Forever Love” as well as the dinner show debut of “Nessun Dorma.” There were guest appearances by the girl group Bi-ray and the boy group XY, both produced by YOSHIKI, along with a collaboration with the Asami Maki Ballet Tokyo on “Swan Lake.” Each show was filled with unforgettable moments, including powerful drum solos that energized the audience. On the final day, YOSHIKI was seen bowing his head to protect his neck midway through the performance. Despite his body reaching its limit ahead of the surgery, he delivered an intensely passionate drum performance that drew resounding applause from the audience.
On the final day, YOSHIKI made a surprise appearance on “24-Hour TV 47” via live broadcast from the dinner show venue. This year's charity marathon for children's homes was established because the runner, Yasuko, spent her high school years in a children's home. YOSHIKI commented, “I have deep respect for Yasuko's challenge. I lost my father to suicide when I was a child, and I've carried that pain with me. I've made it this far because of my fans, so when I heard about the charity for children's homes, I wanted to support it.” As the show's hosts and the audience expressed their surprise at this unexpected appearance, YOSHIKI performed a piano rendition of “Forever Love” to encourage Yasuko. He also revealed that he would be making a live appearance on stage at Ryogoku Kokugikan on September 1st, which further energized the audience.
In another surprise, Matteo Bocelli, the son of the world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli, made an unannounced appearance at the dinner show, performing Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
On August 30th, X JAPAN guitarist PATA also joined YOSHIKI on stage for a special one-night-only performance of “Rusty Nail,” which thrilled fans and created an unforgettable collaboration.
This dinner show, filled with surprises, started in 2014 and celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. The announcement of the event drew great attention, particularly due to the introduction of the “VIP Premium Package.” Despite its unprecedented price of 300,000 yen per seat, the tickets were in high demand and sold out almost immediately.
The show offered rare opportunities for fans to experience YOSHIKI’s performance up close, including moments when YOSHIKI walked through the audience, and during the curtain call, where fans could personally hand him gifts. These intimate interactions drew enthusiastic cheers from the entire venue. The show also featured a fashion show of YOSHIKIMONO, YOSHIKI’s kimono brand, and an exhibition of MAISON YOSHIKI PARIS collections, first presented at this year’s Milan Fashion Week. The event lived up to its name as the “World’s Most Luxurious Dinner Show,” captivating attendees with its opulent and unique content.
The event attracted many prominent figures and VIPs from around the world, including Hiroshi Mikitani, Chairman of Rakuten; Koide Shinichi, Chairman of Salesforce Japan; Akira Mori, CEO of Mori Building; Shintaro Tsuji, CEO of Sanrio; celebrities like DAIGO, Anmika, and TAKAHIRO, a judge from Nippon TV’s audition project; as well as influential individuals from various countries, such as Rob Mondavi, YOSHIKI’s partner in the wine brand “Y by YOSHIKI,” and representatives from the Saudi Ministry of Investment. The show was also streamed on YOSHIKI CHANNEL, featuring a live report from DAIGO and an interview with YOSHIKI after the final performance.
Each performance concluded with “ENDLESS RAIN,” where fans sang along under the dazzling effects of mirror balls and lasers, creating an emotional and unifying finale.
Reflecting on the completion of the 10th anniversary dinner show, totaling 13 performances, YOSHIKI tearfully expressed his deep gratitude: “Thank you to everyone who supported me through these 13 shows. I wouldn’t be standing here, or even be alive, without your support. I’m truly grateful. As we speak, there are many people suffering around the world. I believe we have a mission to live and share our love with those who are struggling.”
Following the dinner show, YOSHIKI has several upcoming engagements around the world. On September 17th, he is scheduled to participate in a thought-provoking discussion on the emerging impact of AI in art, music, and creativity at Salesforce’s major event “DREAMFORCE 2024” in San Francisco, USA.
Regarding his upcoming neck surgery, YOSHIKI announced that it is scheduled for October 8th at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, California. This will be his third emergency surgery.
